Ok, this isn't really a question, but something just occured to me. As a serious cyclist one of the best Xmas presents that I ever got was a unicycle. Like most serious cyclists I already had all the "stuff" that I needed. But a unicycle was unique. It was something that I hadn't thought of, yet it was fun. I could practice in the house, in the middle of winter, and then impress my friends come summertime. It's something that a serious cyclist might never think of getting for themselves, but would really get a kick out of trying.

Anyway, I just thought that I would throw that out there, in case anyone is stumped about what to buy the cyclist on their list.

Yeah, it took me some time to learn to ride it. But in the middle of winter, what else does the serious cyclist have to do that's new and challenging, ride the trainer for 2 hours? And at least it has something to do with cycling.

If you're looking for a real challenge on your unicycle, check out http://www.whitefacerace.com/index.html

They have an uphill bike race every year and for the past few years, a few brave souls have tried it on unicycles. 8 miles, every inch of it uphill. About an 8% grade all the way. A photo of the riders is on the first page of the picture section of the website.

great exercise too! i have one and ride it ALL the time! there are no gear ratios, so you are constantly pedaling to move balance and turn! It takes SERIOUS practice to learn. In 2 weeks at 6 hours a day i barely rode 10 ft. at the end of 2 weeks. it took me another month to feel comfortable enough to ride it at school around campus. But yea, i definitely reccommend it! a lot of people think its the coolest thing when they see you wizz by them!

my bike is 25years old. i've revamped it with 105, but the bike itself is old. if you wanted to send a present my way, a new bike would be tops:)
