No, it isn't only about preaching. Yes, actions speak louder than words but some forget that we are only people and are not perfect. Yes we make mistakes just as anyone else does but it seems that when a christian person makes a mistake people that aren't Christians sure love to point and laugh. They harp on even the littlest slip ups. Just goes to show you we are being watched closer that most want to admit and who knows what little slip caused one person that might have accepted Christ to turn away and never accept. That will be put on our heads at the time of judgment. We all just have to do our best and pray that we are living a life that glorifies and honors God. People are to see him through us. It is a shame that there are many slimy people out there proclaiming they are Christians and people of God but their actions sure don't show it. I think that is what hurts the Christian cause more than anything.
I know I have gone through periods in my younger years that probably had many people questioning what it really was that I believed because I sure didn't project the image that I should have been. Thank heaven for forgiveness and second chances.

Action is one way....1 Peter 3:1-2...In like manner, YOU wives, be in subjection to YOUR own husbands, in order that, if any are not obedient to the word, they may be won without a word through the conduct of [their] wives, Â because of having been eyewitnesses of YOUR chaste conduct together with deep respect.
Preaching is the way Jesus did it.....Matthew 4:17.....From that time on Jesus commenced preaching and saying: “Repent, YOU people, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.”
Matthew 4:23...Then he went around throughout the whole of Gal′i‧lee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news of the kingdom and curing every sort of disease and every sort of infirmity among the people
Romans 10:13-15....13for "(A)WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."
14How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him (B)whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without (C)a preacher?
15How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "(D)HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO (E)BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"

When you are an example of Christ by showing charity or the pure love of God, you are preaching the gospel.

of course not, of course not. yes actions do speak louder than words for SOME people. Others may actually need the words.
I think it takes both to be effective.

Yes. That's why most churches do a lot of ministry in their community. This can include helping the sick, the needy, the elderly, etc.

It must be both, actually.
Jesus said, "Let your light (good works) so shine before men, that they glorify your heavenly Father."
But He also said "Preach this good news to everyone everywhere."

You could start by standing up for God and believing that
HE IS NOT THAT MURDERING BIBLICAL MONSTER.
