"jesus christ is coming to town, he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for christ's sake"

Wow. Bat girl is batty.
They seem the same to me...Santa is easier to sell to children whereas Jesus appeals to adults, I guess.
I wonder if Fireball's parents did that to her and this is her way of dealing with it...

In some ways, I think the p.o.v. can be justified for younger children. BUT we all come to that point in life where we began questioning whether Santa is real or not and then we learn that he isnt. Too, those that are cradle-Christians come to the point where we question whether God is real or not and then we later learn that he IS or for some we just choose to believe that he isnt. Either way, that initial exuberance is no longer there. OR in my case, we just learn more about Christ and began to realize why people have things such as Santa Claus.
Personally, if I ever have children, I'll never tell them about Santa. It's a lie and I don't think that I should do that to them. I was crushed when I found out that Santa wasn't real.

Jesus is Omnipresent - he's already in town. Santa has to just hurry real fast in his sleigh to get to all the towns and all the children.

You are so going to get people started today! LOL

In my house we love Jesus and celebrate His birth, but we also look forward to seeing what Santa brings. We think Santa is a really nice, A-OK kinda guy!

Santa IS, in many ways, a metaphor for the Christian God/Jesus. Think about it.

Edit: Wow, fireball. So when your kids grow up and realize you were really the one buying the gifts, they'll no longer believe in Jesus. Oh the irony.... that makes me smile. ☺

A) Why would someone give out presents on his birthday? I understand some kids' parents give out party favors at birthday parties, but the actual birthday boy or girl really doesn't have much to do with that.

B) Can they sit on Jesus's lap at the mall and tell him what they want? Will Jesus be driving a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer, one of whom has a very shiny nose? No? They can't? He won't? Well then... I think you have your answer: Still not as fun as Santa. Try harder next time, JC.

He'd sit in a sleigh and be pulled by twelve tiny apostles....he can heal the broken toys......and if you leave a glass of water out for him with those cookies, he'll turn it into wine....

Oh Jesus Christ is coming to town........

lol

Children wouldn't be impressed with Jesus unless you put a Santa suit on him. Santa they can see, hear, touch, feel, and open his gifts.

The Jesus story has already been adapted so many time to stories of other people, such as the 25th of December.

No, for Christian parents tell their children that Jesus loves them and that HE is not a magic genie.
We receive gifts from Jesus every day....our very lives are a gift.
You've obviously not been around children. They don't expect gifts. They value time with loved ones. They want to know that people care.
Children are not nearly as materialistic as adults.

Not to mention all the Christian faith that would be gained by watching Santa fly around the sky with his reindeer! Sounds like an intelligent move for everyone concerned.

well since i personally think santa was made form the devil then yes but i wouldnt replace him in the sense that he flys around and gives kids presents partly because he would never do that, and he also wouldnt leave naughty kids out. santa btw is an anagram for satan.
