Maybe you're having a difficult time with it for a reason. Maybe you truly can't forgive him/her, at least not right now. Or maybe you shouldn't at all. One thing I think is certain, don't say it unless you truly mean it. Otherwise, you just add additional resentment to the mix.
When I feel like that, I try to get an objective opinion from someone whose judgment I trust who's outside of whatever is going on - who has no emotional stake in it.

Some people are deserving of forgiveness. Sometimes what they have done is so bad that it is not realistic to expect to have to forgive. When this occurs I give myself a break and leave the forgiving up to god.

I don't forgive them. Just like I'd not forgive someone if they wronged me badly. I may not take revenge or any other action, but that doesn't mean I need to stop being angry or forget how they hurt me. That would be foolish and simply allow them to do it again. If I forgave everyone that didn't pay back money they borrowed from me, I'd be quite the sucker!!

Depending on the level of hurt and mistrust it caused you may truly never be able to forgive that person.

I made the mistake of just ignoring it and living a fake life..trust me it may take a year or it may take 30 but it always comes back...

Realize that forgiveness is not for the other person, it is for you. As long as you hold on to your anger and "withhold forgiveness," it is *you* that suffers. The other person rarely knows your torment and their life goes on unaffected, while you suffer. Forgive the person to liberate yourself!

Pray about it. Remember that you need to forgive others, if you expect to be forgiven yourself.
