Many people are asking me how old-fashioned they need to be- I'm asking about safety features that came before seatbelts, basically. I just need some basic information so that I can limit my search on google.... sadly, yahoo answers doesn't count as a reliable source.

on a lot of old cars when you put your window wipers on in the rain you could not drive fast , because the faster you drove the car the slower the window wipers went... therefore you had to slow down to make them go quicker to clear the screen ..hence no speeding in wet weather ..hope this helps and good luck with exams

Suggest you try Google for this, as the answer could span several pages, but basically, it's down to Volvo! They introduced seat belts and collapsible steering columns in the late 50s, pioneered the passenger safety cell and crumple zones in the 60s, and side impact beams in the 80s. From memory, Mercedes Benz and the German electronics firm Bosch introduced airbags in the early 80s, and both of these companies were responsible for a lot of the electronic safety gizmos on cars today, like ABS brakes, traction control, skid control etc.
Hope this points you in the right direction.

This is such a broad question covering maybe 100 years of motoring history!

Early cars used a platform chassis; a bit like the way they make train rolling-stock or the standard Land-Rover.

The biggest change came with monocoque construction....lighter and stronger.....the same sort of way they make aeroplanes.

With lightness came greater agility, better handling and more effective brakes.

Steering columns used to be solid shafts of steel, and may driver got impaled on the in an accident. Later vehicles after about 1960 or so, had jointed, offset and collpasible steering column to prevent this.

Rack and pinion steering was a massive improvment of the old steering systems, and give much better control.

Suspension design has gone from cart springs to the modern independent systems, which give much better road-holding and handling.
The change from cross-ply tyres to radial tyres has given cars better steering, road-holding and braking.

Brakes used to be drum type brakes, but after about 1965, most cars were fitted with disc brakes at the front, which are much more powerful. A further development was the anti-skid brake system we know as ABS. Traction control on some cars has yielded some benefit in preventing skids etc.

A further development is "active ride" suspension, which is computer controlled, and is found on certin very expensive, high-powered cars; designed to compensate for the stupidty of many of their owners.

The development of the monocoque steel body, has enabled crumple zones and strong-safety cells to be engineered into the car of to-day.

Side impact bars have saved many lives since their introduction.

Seat belts were a standard feature on new cars after a certain date, and nowadays, all new cars have air-bags and explosive charges in the seat-belt mountings, which pull the driver into the seat in the event of a collision..

Automatic fuel shut-off valves have reduced the incidence of fire in accidents,

Laminated windscreens mean that glass no longer shatters, and zone-toughened side/rear windows mean that the glass falls into very small, non-lethal pieces.

Much of this safety development goes hand in hand with motor-sport, where many of the safety features of modern cars were first developed.

I'm afraid that to answer your own question, you'll have to go in reverse and deduct all the safety features listed.

You can download Ccleaner here : http://bit.ly/1t3jm44

To start with open Ccleaner

To make this concise, beneath is my suggested setup:

Under web pilgrim check provisional web documents, treats, and last download area. Most clients don't generally require this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a possibly, however you would prefer not to lose bookmarked locales.

Run Ccleaner and it will begin erasing documents.

a while later it will give you an arrangement of the documents erased, you truly don't have to experience it as it will be a few pages long.

The registry cleaner is proposed for marginally more praiseworthy clients. Use it in the wake of uninstalling projects as they will regularly abandon erroneous registry sections.

In the event that you choose to run Registry cleaner then audit the things identified and constantly move down the registry (I keep an envelope aside for this)

The Tools tab gives you a chance to uninstall projects and set startup programs. Why do you require this if Windows has these peculiarities? Particularly with Vista Home Ed. The windows safeguard programming wayfarer( startup programs) doesn't get a few sections (however programming adventurer is less demanding to utilize).

Utilizing Ccleaner to uninstall projects and after that check for remaining registry passages takes less time.

Under Options you can decide how Ccleaner cleans your records. I allow this to sit unbothered.

Try looking up "windscreen washers". They didn't become law till the 60s or 70s. I can remember them being sold as an accessory - you bought a kit with the jets, some tubing and a little hand pump that fitted under the dashboard on a bracket that came with the kit.

Cars went from a single left rear light to both left and right rear lights, then stop lights, then directional signals and in 1956, Ford came out with seat belts in their Crown Victoria.
(Tucker also came out with headlights that were connected to the steering wheel in the early 1950's but, that never caught on)

Very few.
Safety features can be divided into two sorts;
primary to prevent a crash
secondary to reduce the injury from a crash
