What does the birth of Jesus have to do with the pagan feast of the Solstice?
Answer: for the constructors of the Christian religion, it made sense to replace the birth of the Sun with the birth of the "Son," for purposes of facilitating the conversion of the "heathen."
Again, with Easter, the Resurrection replaced the feast of the Vernal Equinox - Springtime, when the earth renews itself. The eggs and bunnies etc are obvious fertility symbols. Not only that - the idea that the god symbolizing the fertility of the land, and the cycle of the seasons and/or sun, should be represented as being violently put to death and then "resurrected," is pure paganism, and can be traced in literally hundreds of pre-Christian legends and rites, as of Attis, Adonis, Osiris, Dionysus, Mithras, etc etc.
Nor is it any coincidence that "Christmas," the Nativity of the Sun/Son, occurs nine months after the fertility feast of "Easter" - especially when one remembers that the Cross is an ancient phallic symbol.

Santa has nothing to do with the birth of Christ. St. Nicholas gave gifts in the spirit of God giving us the present of Christ. That tradition has been adulterated to Santa Claus and the whole meaning of Christmas has disappeared from general culture.
Easter eggs have nothing to do with the resurrection either. Eggs are a symbol of new life as the resurrection of Christ brings new life but again, the meaning of the holiday has been obscured by merchandisers.

The early christains beleived that Jesus was born the 25th, but they didnt know what month. They decided to celebrate it a few days after yule to eliminate the chance of being persecuted by pagans and celts. I have no idea where the fat guy comes into place, but rudolf started as a gimick for advertising a store.

The name of Santa Claus is derived from the Dutch name for Saint Nicholas, "Sinterklaas". One of the stories about him is that he gave gold to three poor women who couldn't marry because they had no money for a dowry. This is why he is associated with gift-giving. His feast day is in December and he is the patron saint of children (he supposedly brought a child back to life).
The eggs and rabbits are fertility symbols and were associated with a Teutonic goddess of spring named Oestre. The holiday is named after her.

These are simply traditional days that we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the resurrection of Jesus. It was a politcal move by Constantine, the first pope, to bring pagans and Christians together. We should celebrate the birth and resurrection of Jesus every day, as He is our Intercessor and gave His life for us so that we may have salvation.

Absolutely nothing.
I think St. Nicholas' feast day and the Birth of Christ should be two separate holidays.

what does Christmas have to do with Jesus, anyway?
the whole holiday was stolen from a more popular religion... sorta like Burger King making a chicken pieces thing to steal customers away from McDonalds Chicken Nuggets... or something.
