are there any controversial issues which i can write a speech on in islam?

it's for an english assignment. the purpose is to persuade and the audience is the GPU audience (muslims), the only problem i have is to find a suitable content that would fit my audience and purpose. so i'm asking can anybody help me to find a topic i could write about? it has to be a recent topic that could be written as a speech to a muslim audience. i've only got the next 3 weeks to come up with something. and if you have any suggestions then can you tell me what the intended effect would be for the content, of the subject matter please. thank you.

With Muslim audience you can speak about anything you want, just don't underestimate them or insult their religion by any mean, as a subject : I'll talk about The golden age of Islam and the rich Islamic culture, tolerance and peace and how Islam is misunderstood by so many due to wrong information.

How about tackling the issue of education in the Muslim world, and how a state sponsored effort focused on factual evidence only might help curtail violence.

Show examples of countries that have separated education from religion, leaving the parents and communities responsible for religious education, and the state responsible for scientific and factual education.

Then show that there is a direct relationship between separation of religion from education and economic growth and self reliance, which decreases superstition based violence.

Basically young Muslims wouldn't blame the Israelites and the Western world for their plight if they understood and were educated about economics.

For all those who are fond of using the word cult. A Cult is not necessarily a bad thing. Cult seems to be a HOT word in the US and it is SO misunderstood - as a word. ALL religions are CULTS - even Christianity, IF you use the following definition:
Cult roughly refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture considers outside the mainstream, with a notably positive or negative popular perception.
