First congratulations that you want to help your friend. That is terrific. You can help most by serving as a good role model for your friend. Watch what you eat in front of your friend and make good food choices when you are together. Order water instead of coke and talk about why you did it.
As far as working out, start slowly so your friend will want to continue. Start with walking. Maybe at the mall or outside if it is nice. Talk about what clothes you could be wearing or sharing. Get your friend motivated on her own so she wants to start making better choices.
Good luck!

The basic formula for anyone to lose weight is to burn more calories than you are taking in.
Therefore, the first thing is to assess how many calories are being eaten per day. You can find the caloric value for virtually every food on websites like http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/. Then, encourage her to find a healthy range in which to stay. For most people, 13 calories per pound per day keeps your weight the same (that means 3,250 calories a day for your friend). So, to lose weight, she should try staying between 1,750 and 2,250 calories per day.
Exercise will speed this process up, because if she eats 2,000 calories but exercises each day, she'll burn those calories and it will be like she ate less. Good exercise for very overweight people should be things that won't discourage them (for example, she's not going to be up for any 10 mile runs, even though that would be excellent exercise for a fit person). Try taking long walks or swimming. Also, incorporate more active things into your day: suggest walking to a store instead of driving, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
There is no quick fix for obesity; the best way to lose weight is slowly and steadily. Good luck to your friend! I'm sure she appreciates your interest in her health, and you're a good friend to want to help her. Stay positive!

That sounds to the point of morbidly obese. Any movement whatsoever will help, but the stress on his/her joints will be great. The typical things that most people do will not work for them. Diet modification to get started. It's not about starving yourself, but making better food choices. Whole grains, leaner meats and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Cut out (or at least down) on soda and high sugar juices.
But you can't make these changes for them. They have to want to change. Small things, like going for a walk (it can be around the mall if that's the only thing that works)
Also, have him get a Wii. Alot of those games are very active and may help get them moving.

right now there is no toning up for her until she loses the fat--
see the fat is layered over the muscles and wont be noticed---
she should drop some weight --my suggestion is a low carb diet --they work fast with or without exercise----
