Boxers totally rock, one of my all-time favorite breeds.
Dobermans are my absolute fav breed though...after puppyhood, that is. ;-)

Lots of dogs are good family dogs. Boxers are great, I know - my brother has one, and he's an absoute jewel - but some people just don't find them as appealing. Some people like fluffy dogs, some favor smaller or larger dogs, some families need a lower energy dog. Boxers can look a little intimidating, and some don't live very long. It's great that you're enthusiastic about your breed - we all are, really - but that doesn't make it better than any other.

Boxers are great but they aren't for everyone. I happen to have a Boxer and 2 Dobermans and my Dobies are just as good as the Boxer as far as being a good family dog. All breeds have pros and cons, including the Boxer. My Boxer is actually fairly dog aggressive and my Dobies aren't. No breed is perfect.
It's just a matter of preference, which is why there are so many breeds.

Spaniels have always been my breed of choice
Energetic, smart, good with kids and other pets, playful and loving, athletic and sturdy.
Ive owned cocker and Brittany spaniels, both great breeds for my lifestyle and family. My next dog will probably be a King Charles Spaniel

Some people may not want as high energy of a dog as a boxer...some people don't like the way they look. If you are going to live with a dog, you have to be able to look at it. Same with a significant other. LOL There are reasons. Some may not want a dog that big...or can't have one that big.

We have an 8 month old black lab. When we decided that we would like to get a puppy it was between a boxer and a lab-because they are both great family pets.We got the lab because I had always wanted one.

Because they are high-energy and extremely athletic, as well as rather large. Those qualities don't fit into every family's lifestyle.
What's good for you, may not be good for everyone else. I recommend people research many breeds before getting a dog to find the one whose temperment, energy level, grooming requirements, and size suit them best.

This may shock you, but in addition to the boxer, there are dozens of other "ultimate family dogs."
Yes, really.
There is no one breed that is perfect for everyone, and I find it odd that some people don't seem to understand that.

Because some people don't like boxers. I am one of them. I don't like dogs that big, I'll most likely never own a dog that big. I also don't think they're that cute. They've got that "old man face".
They are not "the ultimate family dogs" for everyone.

I like Boxers.
I love my Samoyeds and Bernese Mtn Dogs.
I'm allergic to dogs.. and short haired and wirey haired dogs make me itch.
Plus, every Boxer I've ever met has been a gas factory and has had a delicate intestinal tract.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing that they don't want their dog to be lonely and they just get a "sister" for it. They probably like two kinds of breeds a lot, they just love dogs for some reason. Sometimes they get another breed so that the dogs have puppies.
