it's because of the tissues. to make it feel better, go to the drugstore and get the tissues that say medicated or soft on them. it's a little more expensive, but better for your nose. just drink more fluids and put a little moisturizer or lotion on that spot. it'll be better when your cold passes. good luck and feel better.

Call me Miss Flaky nose, Summer or winter time, it's there and I fought tooth and nail to keep that issue at bay. But before I continue, please allow me to say that everyone else who answered your question had contributed such awesome and helpful answers!!!

Oh believe it or not, I swear to baby vaseline!!! But you will have to apply this generously at night, then sparingly during the day. If you use foundation to work (day), avoid applying foundation around your nose so you could continue to apply the vaseline on the affected area. It does help relieve the redness and burning sensation too, HONEST!!! Do this ritual for a whole week or depending on the end result. If this is used to treat diaper rash on an infant's skin, it would certainly be safe on grown ups =)

Your nose is irritated from the friction between your nose and the tissue. The flaky bits could be dry skin. Try moisturizing.

The skin around my nose is always flaky and dry. Use a good daily moisturizer and it will help.

P.S. the next time u get sick. Use Puffs Plus with lotion and Vick's. It works great and doesn't irritate ur skin.

Because it is irritated from the stiff tissues.

I only use the best tissue when I have a cold and I like the one that has For Colds.

Put some vaseline on it. That will keep off the snot.

In addition to using tissues with moisturizer in them, try using a cocoa butter stick to relieve the pain and itchiness.

well its dead skin, kinda like dandruff so to speak.... my sister has the same thing, try taking a washcloth with some mild soap and gently scrub, depending on how sensitive ur nose is, it should take a layer or two of the flakes off.....then lotion afterwards.... well she uses proactive soo she uses that lotion when she does that and it helps alot...
