Plenty of time, with windows / doors open. Took us nearly a month to rid our house of the smells with doors/windows open for nearly 12 hours a day.

Try putting about 2 cups of vinegar in an open dish and set it in the room. The vinegar should absorb most of the smell in a few hours. When you go to get the vinegar out of the room, the room will really smell like vinegar but that smell will fade in an hour or so.

When you are painting leave a big wide bowl of water in the room and all windows and doors open as well. Tie a large cut in half onion in each room.

If it is fresh paint it takes time to cure, sometimes from 30-40 days. Put a box fan in the room to help the odor and curing as it could help.

I also saw on a commercial for home depot I think, where they used vanilla, the kind you cook with, and put it into the paint, before it was put on the walls. They said it took the smell away??
