I don't think you can.. one way is to actually find out and do it. Otherwise see what the ingredients are for both cake mix and hot chocolate mix. I got a feeling it might actually work if you mix it with flour. Let me know how it goes if you decide to do so!

Yes, you can. Just mix hot chocolate mix into a basic white cake recipe like this one:

until the batter tastes right, then bake as directed.

Hot chocolate mix isn't going to ruin a cake..
you might want to mix it with another type of cake mix.. (just a little)

I think it sounds rather yummy.

no not really....there isn't enough cocoa powder in the mix to flavor an entire cake. Each packet of cocoa mix will only contain about 2 T mix and most of that is actually milk powder.

Maybe if you mixed up the cocoa first adding extra dairy powder to it to cream it up and then used it, but even then I think you will find it is a very very light chocolate flavor.

Assuming you mean as an additive to a boxed or from-scratch cake with standard cake-type ingredients, then, yes, but cocoa would work better, because it has more intense flavor and fewer ingredients that might screw-up the recipe.

If you are thinking of using it as the sole ingredient, then it isn't possible, because there is nothing to "congeal" the cake or to make it "rise". I suppose you could mix it with water or milk, and then freeze it to make something like a frozen cookie, but, in professional terminology, that would be referred to as "icky". ;)

Why don't you ask your mommy or daddy to help you make a wonderful cake?

Mix it in the milk that's in the recipe, otherwise it would add way too much liquid.
