PETA makes false claims about animal abuse in industry.
PETA in their "so-called" shelters has a higher kill rate than most other shelters. They have been known to pick up animals from people thinking that their animals will be cared for in the PETA shelter and they are euthanized in the van before they ever pull out of the driveway. There was a highly publicized court case last year of PETA employees dumping bodies of animals into a supermarket dumpster.
They are one of the most unethical animal rights organizations I know. Here is one site. A google search will provide you with more.

They have the right idea about a lot of things but are very extreme and don't always think through what they are protesting or fighting for. Many situations I have seen if they had gotten their way it would have been worse for the animal.
They do believe all animals should be in their natural environment and not house pets. But just as anyone else they want to make money for their cause and have plenty of supporters and others that just follow in what they believe is People for the ethical treatment of animals without actually knowing.
People feel good thinking they support peta so they make plenty from these people. Many want to strut their pet arounf in the collar showing their support.
Pretty hypocritacal isn't it. Most people don't even realize. Most don't even catch it. Good job.

What has peta truly done for animals? I compare Jackson to peta, both try to put muscle on companies to get paid off, then they will go away. If peta kills animals what right do they have to preach. I eat meat, behind closed doors what do the members of peta eat, probably all the dogs they kill. I think people should teach all those big wigs who advertise for peta a lesson. Stop going to their movies or watching their tv shows. Peta is simply scum.

From July 1998 through December 2005, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." That's more than five defenseless creatures every day. PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them.
Not counting the pets PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals can easily be defined as radical. Instead of working to educate people to their ideas, they try in various ways to force their personal opinions upon the public. They do this through shock tactics such as assaulting people or businesses which have different ideas or practices from their own extreme beliefs.
While their actions may bring attention to their ideas, they create a hostile attitude toward legitimate animal welfare work.
PETA is pouring large amounts of money and energy into stopping the ownership of all pet animals. The idea of the thousands year old relationship between animal and man is repugnant to these folks.
I suspect no PETA employee has ever shared a meaningful working relationship with an animal, and therefore have no idea how mutually enjoyable it can be for both parties. The soul of a working dog is unknowable to them.
One PETA employee I spoke with kept three large dogs in an apartment in the city. No wonder they think owning pets is cruel!
This ignorance of the symbiotic relationship between domestic animal and man is evident in PETA statements: "it is important to stop manufacturing pets, thereby perpetuating a class of animals forced to rely on humans to survive." In fact, humans and animals have both relied on each other to survive further back then we can see into history.
They are PRO BSL.... !
I don't understand how you can support PETA! it's absolutely bogus!

Are you aware of the fact that PETA is on the terror watch list?? They would much rather burn down a farmers barn or destroy a fishing hole than contribute to a spay neuter clinic. Do a search and you will find that HSUS & PETA are controlled by the same wackos.
To be honest I have always felt that PETA & HSUS could be a good thing if only the rank & file would oust those wackos at the top.

It depends on how "PETA" the PETA people are, really. Most PETA people are against having animals as pets, against horseback riding, against farming (even if it is just cows for milk), against using wool or any natural fibers that come from animals, etc, etc etc. As well, there have been numerous cases of PETA people having abused and mistreated animals.
They sell stuff on their website to appeal to the average person who is not informed of what they really do. If you want to learn more, check out sites like http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1775368/posts

I think, personally, the worst thing is that they collect animals for their shelters to be "adopted out" and then put the animals down to "spare them" from being pets. So while they collect money for animals, they use in in ways most people wouldn't want them to.

They have their good points and their bad. I believe many of the same things as them, but not to such an extreme point. I believe in having pets, but I don't believe in rodeos/circuses.
You just have to learn to filter out fact from fiction, and make sure you look into things, not just believe what you are told. A good way to do this is to read info from various other sources and compare them.
I support NAVS a lot more than PETA, as they are not so extreme.

PETA is nothing more than a radical organization with extremist views that uses fear tactics and extreme measures to 'help animals'. The truth is, PETA believes that owning pets is cruel and a large percentage of the animals they 'rescue' end up dead. They are also pro-Breed specific legislation and anti-meat, among other things. Fundamentally, the idea is great, but in reality, they harm more animals than they help, while scaring the bejezus out of people. Want more info??? Check this site out.

Peta can sometimes take things to an extreme, they can be very staunch in their stance on certain things which can turn a lot of people off, even when there intentions seem good. I prefer the Humane Society myself as I'm not into protesting and I actually do enjoy a good steak once in awhile.

PETA is for the elimination of all companion animals. They have stated that they feel you house pet would be better off running wild fending for itself than being "forced" to live with you.
If you would like to read several examples of why most intelligent people think PETA is bad try reading: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkaYTFj3GH9Y5W6Y6O0p4mLty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071217150151AAjcxp6&show=7#profile-info-xdfcz518aa
