That marriage is an exclusively Christian thing? The argument I hear most often against Gay marriage is that "god" intended man to wed woman. Well, the institution of marriage is seen in every culture and religion. Who mad you guys the bosses?
P.S. No, this country is not meant to be based on Christian principles. It never was, and certainly strives not to be today.

Nobody is answering my question...
I know you think homosexuality is wrong and I know your bible says that marriage is between man and woman. I'm saying that your bible isn't the authority here.
Just because the founders were Christian doesn't mean the country was meant to be Christian. And like I said, we as a country have opted for SEPARATION of church and state.

The earliest recordings of marriage are actually among the Northern Europeans and the Egyptians who came along far before there is an archeological evidence of the Hebrews.
You have to realize that most Christians beleive that Adam and Eve were the first humans, regardless of proof of other faiths, moral codes, and laws. So no matter what arguement you have, they have a nice little loop hole of "They all came from Adam and Eve".

From the beginning God has said for man and woman to go into the world and multiply. How can 2 men multiply? Two men don't fit. Man and woman can become one as God instructed.
I'm not the boss of anything today. I am retired. God commanded me to know His Word, the Holy Bible. He also commanded you to know His word. Have you read the Bible?
God gave us His Word and God gave us His Son and God gave us His law and God gave us LIFE and TRUTH.
If you knew the Bible, you would know that every law written by American men is Bible related. The entire Washington area is engraved with Biblical meanings. Almost every university and college degree for our first 300 years was dated "In the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty," as example for the exact year given.
American history is being washed out of society by secular humanist that hate God.
Look back a few years and you will see a Supreme Court declare that America is a Christian nation. You are letting your lusts outweigh your reason. True American history disagrees with you.
How best to destroy a nation than to destroy the roots of the nation!

Well, the most straight forward answer I can provide is that the Bible instructs the tenets of marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman and God. That's simply what it says. So those professing a Christian faith would submit and subscribe to that standard.
As to your PS comment; like it or not the religious heritage of our nation is Christianity. That is a historical fact. The concepts of "separation of church and state" is based entirely on a personal letter written by Thomas Jefferson in response to pressure to adopt protestant beliefs as the National Religion. It was never intended to set the standard that religion would not, or could not have any influence over that way this nation is governed. It was simply to make clear that, in Jefferson's opinion there should never be any laws requiring an individual to adopt a specific denominational affiliation.

What logic would explain that Christian settler's pursuing the freedom to worship in the manor they chose, writing in language heavily grounded in "church-esse" were not intending this land to be Christian? That statement makes absolutely no sense at all.
The fact that we as a nation are aggressively pressuring our government to exclude all mention of God does not in any way erase the intent of our forefathers or the historical basis that this nation was built on. If we are to fully separate church and state then your argument has a basis and every man should do what is right in his own mind (moral relativism.)
However, your question was why Christians feel the way they do about marriage. Unfortunately, your logic betrays your argument. You are attempting to place your own world view onto the History of America, which is errant. Further, you are trying to place your world view into the authority of scripture, which is worse.
Better to make your case on the fact that you do not believe as Christians believe and you do not agree with the historical foundations of our government. At least then your statements would be accurate.

Well for one thing homosexuality is a sin. Read Romans Chapter 1, and also Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by God because of the man laying with man, woman with woman, and incest, it is not just a Christian thing, nobody made Christians boss. Only you will stand accountable for your sins, no one else. I myself would rather believe in God and die and find out that its not true than to not believe and find out that it is. And God is not a word made up to make people scared. Just take a look around do you think this world and all that is created so beautiful just popped up out of nowhere. No way, it is all inelegant design by our Father God which is in Heaven.

religious marriage is based on the idea of a man and a woman who loves each other that decide to become one, in one body and one soul.
This belong to the religious thory and gay marriage is not cotemplated.
This becouse marriage, in religion, is not simply a blessing that God give to the married person, but is also a way to partecipate in the holy circle of the life.
And a man and another man or two wimen, can't have babies, so they could not partecipate.
Politic marriage, the contract you sign, in respect of the low of your country, is another thing. There are no promise of became a single being of two and similar.
Is just a promise you legalize to ratificate your union with another person, according with fidelity and other and it is needed to compile a tax declaration..
so i can't see the point. No problem for gay marriage in the istitutional idea, but nonsense for a religious marriage.
hope you can understand my terrible english
:)
I would also say that i think the different churches would blessing gay people like any other, if not like two married people, almost like two different sons
:)

christians believe as they do because they believe in the authority of the Bible, and the Bible clearly states the condition for marriage and its position on the "actions" of people outside of marriage- be it adulterous, 'gay' or otherwise. you asked "who mad (i assume you meant 'made' you guys the bosses"..to christians their response would be "the God of the Bible" you will also, upon investigation, find that many other 'religions' have similiar 'laws' : so this is certainly not a position that is 'elite' to the christian believer.. and it maybe that such 'laws' were established to maintain population as well as disease free society amongst a few

Actually you have it all wrong. The defense is not just made by religious people. It is also made on Natural Law grounds.
And the fact that marriage is found in every culture is a great argument against you. Why would it be so found if it is purely arbitrary. -- I know why : You want that to be the case.

No, this country was built by men who were tired of the religious persecution in England, and came to express their Christian faith (and any an all faiths) freely. And now, today, the atheists and others are striving to destroy every thought of Christ in society.
Freedom and Liberty. The secular liberals want to take that away, so they can create a nanny state and gain ever more power over the unwitting masses.

From the Christian perspective we believe in God and the Bible being the Word of God...that being said: God made man and woman...to be joined together...there are many scriptures to back this up.
When you ask from a Christian perspective we live by the Bible or we try to, therefore, we stand by the Bible and what we understand and know to be truth. We answer to God.

you are so wrong on so many levels...in the Bible the definition of marriage is between a man and woman...emphasis on different genders...just like divorce is in the Bible...We did not make ourselves bosses of marriage, but we did tell you the truth about the institution...Now our country was build on Christian Godly Principles...look at the documents...Merry Christmas
