It's not that they fell...or that they are hurt. It is the funny look on their face or the way they are flailing around trying not to fall. I've had people laugh at me as I fell...and I laughed myself, but it's the ones who laugh even after and especially if someone was hurt that really p!ss me off. It's never funny to see someone get hurt.

Often times it isn't so much that a person falls is funny, but how they actually fall down is. It can be quite comical for instance, to watch someone trying to keep from falling while slipping on the ice, flailing their arms and such. I took such a fall last week, and was SO glad noone was near to witness it!

One of the base human instincts is to"laugh" at any thing funny,When a man slips and falls, naturally the instinct to laugh gets kindled.
Only later, the feeling of sympathy swels in his herrt and he rushes to help him.
In civilised society laughing at others discomfiture is not welcomed.

have you ever slipped and fallen? i laugh at such things not because of the injury or potential injury, but laugh because as we attempt to 'catch' ourselves we contort not only our bodies but our faces.. when you take out the implication of the results, and just look at the action.. sometimes it can be very funny. secondly, for some people under the most dire conditions a laugh (though seemingly inappropriate) is a common reaction

I fall all the time and I laugh at myself falling and so I think its ok if someone else laughs at me too, and most of the time, they help me up, and who cares if they laughed ? They thought it was funny and now they are being polite. When my friend falls, we both laugh crazy, but then I stop and help her up.
Havent you laughed at somebody who fell?
But there are cases where its not funny, like when a cripple falls or when someone caring boxes of heavy things etc . . .then I dont think its funny so I dont laugh but still help them.

unexpected look and the unusual way of fall makes us laugh. Nothing bad from within.

I was thinking about this the other day!! Get out of my head!! It is the expression on their face. You can not replicate that expression and it is too funny!

Laughter is often a nervous/sympathetic reaction, in these cases it is not really related to humor.
