I send a regular Christmas card with the normal Christmas message (forget that happy holidays stuff). Inside I send a homemade postcard with a picture of the dogs from the dogs. It's our version of those cards we get from everyone with their family pictures.
Last year, I didn't send them to everyone. I got a lot of emails asking where their dog picture was! So EVERYONE is getting one. I figure no one will feel left out. We sign the "real" card and the dogs send the postcard.
It's a lot of work, but we have fun taking the picture.
Try getting 5 dogs to sit still and look at the camera!
PS, I love all variations of this - pictures of kids, families, dogs, cats etc. Some people live across the country and I don't get to see them often so this really is a nice way to "see" them.

I think cute! (unless the dog is overly dressed up in some santa dog outfit with bells and hats and booties and anything else under the sun)
My cousins have a photo card program where you can make your own!! just upload any pic you want on your comp, and the program designs greeting card backgrounds, and if you buy photo printing paper, it really looks like the real thing. If you do greeting cards alot, it's cheaper. they have pets and babies, so they do it alot.
Edit: Notblack St. Bernard , are you crazy??? I thumbs upped everyone here above me. Maybe because whoever thumbs downed stopped reading before my reply came??? I've gotten over 10 thumbs downs before. Are we in some dog forum competition? I think not..

I think it's cute...especially when your dogs are like your kids and they are a big part of your life. I don't think it's any different than sending out cards with a picture of your kids. People do it all the time. If your friends understand your love for your dog, than they should find it very cute! I usually send a picture with either all of us (my kids and I) or with my kids with my dogs. Dogs are your family and think you have every right to send a photo of your dog without people thinking it's creepy.

Cute! Our dog is a member of the family and the newest member at that. He definately deserved to be featured on the Christmas card and we are so thankful for him. PLus it is adorable. take a look:

edited to add: whoever is giving thumbs down has a pretty large attitude problem. I mean this is your chance to say no I dont like it. she asked for your opinion. Just respond and say "no I think it is ridiculous" and press submit for goodness sake!
Also, I have a nine year old and he is not on the christmas pic because HE wanted to do the dog photo and helped. So having a kid doesnt mean you cant do a dog or cat card. Some kids would rather do ones of their pets than be dressed up themselves. Mine is having a santa crisis ( is he or isnt he? if I dont believe do I get less presents.. oh no lol) so I think this is why no photo with santa this year...the dog card was our solution.

I have not sent out Christmas cards with my dog's photo on them, but I love recieving them. I am absolutely a dog lover, and dog photo cards always make me smile. At the vet clinic where I work, almost Every Christmas card we recieve has a picture of the clients dog. They are so cute, we hang them up for the rest of the clients to enjoy.

I cannot say that I lug my dogs (dressed in Santa hats) to have their photo taken. Instead, I go through the hell of trying to get an outside photo of the three kids and the 5 dogs together around the little pond.
Why I do this year after year, I do not know. After 15 photos, we just use the "best" one. I keep wishing that I could give Ace to the whole lot. Kids included.
Then we do send that photo as our yearly Christmas card.
***Yeah!!! Don't you hate it when people have to give a thumbs-down on a question like this!!!!!!! This is an opinion question just for fun!!!!!! Some people will not let anyone have any fun!!!
***********gee...catsanddogs doesn't have ANY thumbs down!!!!!! WHY is that???????? The rest of us ALL do.

I think it's cute! Dogs are a part of the family too, and honestly, I would much rather get some adorable picture of their dog than get yet another picture of the family standing there in matching outfits! I say dog cards are WAY better! =)

Yes. I do it every year. Of course I think it's cute or I wouldn't do it.
If I have to endure photo holiday cards of all of my friends' children, they can endue a picture of my "dogter."
Plus my dog is about the cutest thing in the world; she looks practically just like your avatar. : )
Oh and even worse, I also sign my dog's name with a little paw print next to it.

I want to get a holiday picture taken w/ my puppy in it. As for a Christmas card with my puppy on it I am only sending out photos of him to a few family members. Although, I see nothing wrong with you sending out a card.
CUTE!

If the dog is cute, then the card is cute.
If the dog is creepy, then the card is creepy,
although some people might think it's cute!
Of course, it depends on what the card says, too.
