I am very grateful seeing ur responses. Thanks very much. Seeing ur replies , I think I shld exactly specify whats troubling me a lot.
1. Firstly I am trying consciously to be a really mature adult .
2. I am loosing the fun I used to have a few days ago with my friends. Even If i try to grab a beer , I am hesitating & thinking twice "what if i am a child , Shld I Drink ?"
The point is, I myself am getting doubts on myself. My mind is playing Sick games with me. I used to be like a comedian among my friends and make them laugh. Now I make some stories to avoid them. We are going to have a christmas party this weekend and I am stuck. Plz help me getting me back to my previous state..

Childhood isn't defined by age or by whether or not you play video games or not. To get technical some researchers believe adolesence last until 25. This is when they believe that last developments that started when you reached adolesence (roughly around puberty) are made. What is the true measure of maturity and adulthood is your ability to make decisions and take on the responsibility or your own well being. Maturity is your ability to make decisions that will not physically or emotionally harm the relationships you establish, ie friendships, romantic, and business relationships. Now if you played those video games instead of going to work everyday or you ended your relationships with friends and significant others because they did not enjoy anime as much as you, then it can be argued you have yet to leave your adolescence. Otherwise it is not the things you enjoy that make you childish but rather how those things affect your life. On another note I too am 23, I play with Lego's, watch anime and play video games whenever I can. I also live by myself, and go to graduate school full time. But I do not let these things affect my ability to perform in school or affect my relationships.

You speak of your depression, of currently feeling strange, of not acting like yourself --

This turn in your feelings-thoughts-actions can be a warning or danger sign of your current condition becoming serious, of an impending mental/emotional crisis. Call a hot line today, or your local ER or Mental Health Clinic. Yes, it can be that important!

Every person has their own favorite things to do, whatever their age. Kids and teens are known for their attraction to video games. Your coworker is making a big assumption by categorizing you as a kid.

How do the other parts of your life rate? How responsible and productive are you? Do you have a plan for your future that you're working toward? Or are you living just for today and tomorrow? At 23, if you have a good job you are likely looking for a wife, driving your own car, and saving to purchase a house for your family. -- unless you were still in College, and delayed the family focus. If you still have a youthful focus on the fun of single life, while living with Mom and Dad, then you have some more maturing to do.

Most people grow out of their teen hobbies, and move on to something else. You probably will too.

By the Way ....... Video games or any other form of "play" is a big NO-NO during work hours and on company equipment, and something you can get yourself fired over.

Soooooooo.....call Mental Health or a hotline and ask for a mental health evaluation due to your current changes in condition......TODAY!

At 23 I don't think you are a fully grown adult. You've been out of college but, still maintain a "bachelor" or college type lifestyle.. You probably have no reason to change you habits.. Do you have a gf or are in a long term relationship? If your NOT then chances are this is just the "phase" is life that you are used to and hopefully in time your tastes in movies, video games etc.. will grow or change. Video gaming is very common in your age and up to mid 30's or so... We're used to having video game systems/computers etc... Older generations just "don't get it".... I play a video game once in awhile, while my husband will sometimes play every now and again to "unwind" I don't think it's harmful unless playing video games prohibits you from doing other things like making friends outside of home/work...

Good luck

It depends on what you mean by being "child[ish]." I define it as still having to learn more information. Using this definition, we are all still children since you never stop learning.

I stopped playing video games a while ago. But that has less to do with the video games than the fact that I just didnt enjoy it anymore. To me, thats not a sign of maturity or childishness but is in fact just growing out of things.

Now, if you actually rashly or made immature decisions, an argument could be made that you need to mature. However, this isnt the thrust of the argument you made.

No, not at all. And the average game for video players is 33 I heard on CNN last night. So relax. You do what gives you enjoyment. I'm 26 and still play video games now and then. The people that work on games are probably like 40 and make tons of money for it. Your colleague is just jealous you still know how to enjoy yourself :)

Companies that produce video games get most of their revenues from people your age.
I know gamers who are in their 30s and 40s and have no apparent intention on letting up their playing.

I have three rubiks cubes and i still play with them all the time.

I don't play computer games, but that's only because I suck at them LOL

No way! When I was 23 I had two daughters and had been married for 5 years. I am 29 and I still like games and my husband and I love Family Guy. So What? You need to like what you like, and be who you are. As long as your video games don't interfere with your real life you are fine! Everyone needs something to do in their downtime.

Your free time habits are indeed more commonly found in people a lot younger but it doesn't mean you're not fit.
People like different things at different phases of their lifes.
I guess it wouldn't hurt you to try and make your interests more broad, evolve... Watch some good movies/series, go out with friends, read newspapers.. Try to find new interests.

You technically leave childhood at the age of 13 and you enter adulthood by 18. It doesn't matter how you act or what you do. You are an adult.
