Dating in a casual manner, 16 to 17. You are through Puberty and all the trials and confusion of that period. You are better able to control emotions and look at things with a little bit more objectivity. Heavier dating, on a more continuous level, would be after Freshman in University or about 20 if you are not continuing school. This gives you the chance to deal with the first confusing, and demanding, year of university before dividing yout time.
Marriage - 25 to 30. This time gives you a chance to earn and save money (The cause of most divorces) and be emotionally and financially stable, establish your own home and necessities without straining your finances. If children come, they are expensive, and you have to have both savings and income to take care of the next 18 years.
Too many kids are encouraged to "Date" early before they even understand themselves, They are pushed into trying to deal with the emotions and personalities of someone else. Bad deal. Early marriage, as statistics clearly show, is, for the most part, doomed to failure.
Learn to be yourself and understand people around you before trying to form strong relationships, intimacies and the possibility of having children to deal with. As you mature, your choices will be made with more understanding, less emotion and more practical basis. Things will go well in this situation.

Dating is a commitment. Your freedoms in dating should be determined by your parents. It is a way to earn trust with them, following their rules. The rules may be a pain, but it will also help you stay in line. Your parents are going to base everything on your maturity levels and responsibility levels. Talk to them about it.
