A micrometer caliper is a device in which an object to be measured is enclosed between two jaws, one fixed and the other movable by means of a fine screw. When the jaws are just touching the object, the distance between the jaws can be read on an associated scale, often to an accuracy of 10−4 (one ten-thousandth) in., or 10−6 (one millionth) m. A micrometer is used to measure thickness very accurately.

you'd use it to Measure the thickness of the Brake Disc....among other things
And a Micrometer and a Caliper are 2 different tools that measure the same thing. Mic's are in 1" increments... calipers are typ 1-6" and larger

A micrometer caliper is used for accurate
measurements of larger parts. Pistons,
cylinder bores etc.
For smaller parts, valve stems bearings etc.
a more accurate micrometer is usually employed.
