Hahaha, yeah, I noticed, spark. I like the grace you say as Catholics, both to you and Father K.

Every meal, out or in:

Bless us, O Lord, and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
from your bounty
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Mealtime is the best time to say your prayers. Some say it because they want to be thankful for the food, but there is more wisdom in this practice than most people know. When we pray, we connect to Spirituality (God, Jesus, a saint, spirits, angels, Buddha or any other spiritual figure you believe, it doesn't matter). This connection is more perfectly done when your sixth sense is "awake" (let me put it this way). How do we wake up our sixth sense? We do that by using the other five senses. That's why some people light a candle, have a scent or just hold hands when praying. Unconsciously, they are activating some of the five senses. At meal time, we have the visual, the smell, the taste, the touching and the hearing (of your voice or a background song) and that's why this is the most perfect moment for a prayer.

Yes I do. I pray with my family. Usually my husband says the prayer and thanks for the food and everything else we are thankful for. Sometimes my 5 y-old daughter prays and it is so cute... She always prays for her friends in school.

It is a good habit.

Peace!

I say, though not exactly the same every time: Dear Father which are in heaven, thank you for this food which we are about to eat, bless it and those who made it, and help those who are not able to eat it (in other impoverished countries), in Jesus name, Amen.

I can't really translate it because I pray in another language, so it may sound weird or off. I put it like this because that what I usually say, though not exactly like that, it always, or almost always is different.

I thank God for the food, his blessing on who prepared it and ask Him to guide the conversation at the table.....I may pray specifically for the person (s) I am eating with. I try to keep it simple and qucik.

My two year old nephew told me one year at Thanksgiving, "Just say Thank you for the food. Amen!"

Before meals:

Bless us, oh Lord
And these, Thy gifts
Which we are about to receive
From Thy bounty
Through Christ our Lord, Amen

After meals:

We give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits
Almighty God, who lives and reigns forever.
May the souls of the faithfully departed
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

(We Catholics have prayers for everything. And look! Not a single line directed at Mary...)

We say grace every evening, even if we are having cereal for dinner. It depends on who is saying grace that night as to what is said. Oldest son...always thanks God for our food, asks Him to provide for those that are hungry, thanks Him for our home and asks Him to comfort the lonely, strength, comfort and blessings for our soldiers, etc.....Middle son...not as long as the oldest, but always thanks Him for our food and our many blessings...Youngest son..."Jesus, thank you for our food. Amen" every time (he's 3). My husband and I pray for whatever is in ur hearts at the moment. Every prayer except for the youngest's end with "In Jesus' name we pray, Amen" or some variation of that.

I thank God every day by saying, "Thank you Lord Jesus, for this wonderful food and this wonderful drink and for all you give to me. In Jesus' name. Amen". And that's it! Liked the question by the way.
