There are situations where forgiving would be very difficult, but working through your own emotions is still preferable to wallowing in hate and anger.

You feel better. Harboring resentment and hate is against your own well being. Its not easy to do but to forgive and forget means you are getting on with your life and not letting someone Else's down fall cause you grieve.

I believe that it was buddha who said that holding anger is like holding onto a hot coal with the intention of throwing it at someone; only you get burned
