Rejection is God's protection. I was really into this guy but he was emotionally unavailable. Early into the relationship and with much resentment I gave up.

Soon after we went our separate ways, the guy was in an intense accident and ended up with a severe traumatic brain injury. I have to be honest, if we had been together at the time of his accident I would be in the insane position of having to choose between standing by his side even though our relationship was just a few months old, or being a heel and walking away. At that time my head was pretty messed up anyway and I would not have had the strength to know how to handle myself. I would not have been helpful to him and his family, and it would not have a healthy affect on my life either.

He was in a coma for a while and I had no idea. Thankfully he has an abundance of friends and family who love him and take exellent care of him. He came out of his coma and went through lots of therapy. Now he is learning how to walk and talk again, but can type so he and I exhange emails. We are friends and grateful for one another.

God puts all of us exactly where we need to be. If we pay attention and follow his will, life will happen just how it is supposed to happen. We may not always want what he wants... we may want that guy or that job... but he sends us to do the work we are capable of and takes us from the tasks that don't belong to us.
