That's what makes the policy so awful - If we pull out today, The country collapses into chaos. If we pull out in 10 years, It is unlikely the result will be any better. Iraq is another Israel - Only instead of propping their country up with arms; We're propping Iraq up with our own blood.
We could very well stay in Iraq for decades and the underlying dynamic could be the same. The tragic thing is that; Unlike in Afghanistan, We were not actually attacked by Iraq or Iraqis and didn't have to get ourselves into such an open-ended commitment. It was a war of choice...

That's pretty much up to the Iraqi Government and the Sunnis, Shia's and Kurds. When all three groups can reason with each other and put religion aside they will make great strides. Although I'm sure some whacko's who don't really know what's happening over there will blame Bush.
