Make space on the disk by removing unused programs and files
.....empty the recycle bin too

Either make space on the disk or get another one - for example an external hard drive to keep all your music on.

Run the Disk Cleanup wizard which can be found by right clicking on the C drive in My Computer. That will remove unwanted files and make a little room. Emptying your recycle bin helps too.

When you have gained 20% free space, run a Defrag which you will find in the same location, if your hard drive has insufficient space to store a file it takes longer dividing it up to store it and therefore longer to piece it all together to retrieve it, and you can really slow down your PC.

Note that wildiris' reply seems to imply that a defrag makes space on your drive, it does *not*. It is merely a good thing to do once you have created some free space.

either delete unused and programs u don't need or if that doesn't help that much look at upgrading teh size of ur disc space... u could do that by using an external drive so the programs u use the least could be saved on the external drive and u have access to them all the time w/out filling up ur disc space

You have to remove some of the files stored on your hard drive. Begin by copying your music, pictures, vids, etc. off the hard drive to CD and DVD. Then uninstall any programs that you can live without. Go under Start menu > Accessories > System Tools and run the Disk Cleanup to get rid of any temp files, etc. When do with all of that, do a disk Defrag to rearrange teh remaining files so they will run as fast as possible.

Newton is correct in his answer, but if that doesn't clear out enough disk space, you will need to buy a new hard drive. You can use it as a secondary hard drive and copy over all your data files, but none of your program files, as the location of your program files are recorded in your Registry file, so they can't be moved.

Of course, if a program needs to access a data file and it has been moved, that might cause the program some problems, but at least the program, itself, will actually run.

Good luck.

you need to get rid of some files, or programs that you are not using. it's taking up space, and you no longer have room to store stuff.

good luck

don't forget to empty your recycle bin, that takes up disk space too!
