Having trouble with a troubled friend's sweet kids-Please Help!?

Question

I run a support group for single mothers and I have a participant's kids practically living with me. While my door is always open to them, ages 7,9,and 14- after having the eldest first introduce me as her mom and then insist it was true to the point of tears to one of her teachers I'm more than a little worried about these kids. I talked it over with mom and she thought it was cute. She's a nice lady, works two different jobs to support them all, but it seems like she's missing my point.
We live in a dangerous neighborhood and I really don't mind them being here (I like them, better then alone in their apartment), but it's become a daily ritual for them- home to shower, then my place 20 minutes by city bus to do homework, visit, and eat.
I work 1 fulltime job (about 48 hrs) and have one young son myself, and though it's a challenge I've been able to take care of them like this for about a month now.
I won't turn them away,I love them like my own, but I'm not their mom.Suggestions?

Time to have a meeting with their mom and discuss the issue. It is wonderful that you are helping these kids, but is the mom taking advantage of you by having a free babysitter. There is also your own child, that needs his mom all to himself some of the time. You need to talk to the kids also, and find out what is going on, and why they come every day.

You need to have a sit down chat with their mom. She's using you for daycare. How much time can she spend with her own kids if she is working two jobs.

You need to have her paying for your time, and that might ease the cost of feeding 3 more mouths every day.
