I'm an Information Technology Professional and at one point I was a Network Administrator. I have no degree but several certifications.

In the Information Technology field, a degree is great if you want to be in management or a director. But the guys doing the real work certifications or real-world experience is critical.

Why? Because technology changes DAILY! A degree can't allow you to keep up with the fast changing technology.

It really depends on your location as far as pay. But in the Washington DC, Baltimore Metro area.

$55K - 80K. I've worked my way up to the 80K mark based on staying abreast of technology and selecting good companies.

But that's assuming you're doing more then technical support. That assumes you're handling Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, and more. Not just supporting users and doing website updates. You have to understand DNS, DHCP, WINS, Windows Server NT - 2007.

If all you do is some multimedia, web updates, pc maintenance, and supporting users.

You could be in the $35-45K range.

You will find that jobs like these are negotiable when it comes to salery.
Some will pay $12.00 to $20.00 an hr depending on how really sharp you are.
Don
If they only pay something less I wouldn't even consider it. You can pick up aluminum cans and make more

It depends on experience. £15,000 wouldn't be unusual for someone with limited experience (which I assume is the situation you are in, otherwise you'd probably have a good idea already from experience in the market place)
