The only real difference between an iPod and an MP3 player is the brand. iPods are made by Apple, where as you can get an MP3 player for many different brands. iPods are also slightly more expensive than most MP3 players.

There are a lot of different iPods and MP3 players out there. For an iPod, you would use a free program called iTunes where you can either buy your own music for your iPod or take music you've downloaded elsewhere and put it on your iPod, whereas most MP3 players would use Windows Media Player or a large variety of programs to put music on them. I would recommend trying a place like Best Buy or Circuit City and asking them more about what MP3 players they'd recommend and how they work if you're interested.

They're both essentially the same thing. iPods are Apple's version of mp3 players, while the rest just simply call them mp3 players.

Putting music on them isn't really that difficult. While others require you to download and install a program to do this for you (for example, Apple's iTunes or Microsoft's Windows Media Player), you can simply copy and paste files on some.

The cost depends on the capacity of the drive, or how much/many songs the player can hold. Of course, larger capacity players are more expensive. iPods tend to be a little overpriced also but as far as music quality goes, I like them =)

An ipod IS an mp3 player. ipod is a trademarked "brandname" of the Apple corporation. ipod is not the only 'brand' of mp3 player made. Many other companies also make mp3 players. The ipod, however, is the most popular so there are many accessories designed for the ipod, that may or may not work with other mp3 players.

BTW: the ipod was not the first mp3 player on the market, it is just the most popular one available.
