Draco Malfoy was never physically in possession of the Elder Wand. However, Dumbledore was (as he had defeated Grindelwald who had defeated Gregorovitch and taken it). When Draco disarmed Dumbledore in Half-Blood Prince outside of the castle, Dumbledore/Elder Wand were defeated and the wand's master became Draco. Dumbledore was buried with the wand (that Draco didn't know was special) and was not used again until Harry took it after disarming (defeating) Draco (the wand's master) in the Malfoy Mansion. Then the wand was under Harry's command.

When Malfoy burst out of the door to the tower where Dumbledore and Harry were he disarmed Dumbledore, therefor, the power of the elder wand was transmitted to Malfoys wand.
He didn't really get the wand that was made of Elder, but he got the wands' power since he defeated the wands' master.

I know it's a bit confusing, but I hope I helped!!!

Malfoy cast a disarming spell that removed it from Dumbledore's possession.

Remember, that Dumbledore was already dying fom a curse, and had been seriously poisoned by a potion just moments before, or Malfoy's spell would probably have failed.

Draco never killed Dumbledore-- his death was pre-arranged, and thus spoiled Voldemort's claim on the Elder Wand.

Because when Malfoy was meant to kill Dumbledore in The 6Th Book first he disarmed him. Dumbledore later sent that the new owner of the elder wand isn't only if he killed the last owner but if you disarm the owner than it's just evenly yours!
That probably doesn't make sense but i tried lol kind of confusing read the book.

Malfoy disarmed Dumbledore in the sixth book, right before Snape kills Dumbldore. So Malfoy defeated Dumbledore and is the rightful owner of the elder wand. So Snape was killed needlessly. Harry disarmed Malfoy so Harry became the rightful owner.

If I remember correctly he never actually "got it". He disarmed Dumbledore after which Snape killed Dumbledore and picked up the wand. As Harry defeated Malfoy the wand then became associated with Harry.

In the sixth book, Draco has disarmed Dumbledor's wand when they attacked. Voldemort thought that Snape is the owner of the elder wand because he killed Dumbledor. But it is not true because the story said that you don't have to kill to get it, just defeat/disarm the owner.
