Our life experiences shape our attitudes... that is why these can't be easily changed through coaching or teaching or preaching..... once these are developed in the formative years of life, only some major life incidents can bring about any further changes in them. So attitudes are obviously not inherited.... and they are not acquired in the sense that there is no willful aspect.... they just develop differently in different people depending on their varying life experiences, especially during the formative years of life.

As mother to 6 children,( some not my of my own blood) I believe that attitudes are acquired according to how things are perceived by the personality traits they inherit.
My reasoning.....
(1.)
3 children raised by the same person ,in the same circumstances, having the same experiences, (if acquired should have the same attitude and shared attitude of the person who raised them, But definitely do not.each has has their own special attitude and reaction to events.
one is introverted and another is extroverted and yet another is on the hysterical /dramatic side. One is a creative thinker ,another has anger issues and behavior problems. the third is very logical and calm.
(2) A child who having very little contact from birth with a biological parent displays the attitude of that parent.
(3) 2 children raised in bad circumstances, abused and neglected with little love or discipline, are very loving and well adjusted .neither display the attitudes they were raised with.
so again I say that each child makes attitude "choices" through how their inherited personality perceives information.and then later on will change attitudes according to how well it works for them.I.E. if an attitude alienates a child he will see the need to change said attitude to restore himself to his peers.

Acuired for a big part, but there is a genetical factor too.

Suppose we take different kids, from different parents, and raise them together in one environment. each kid will develop its unique character and also a different attitude, even they grow up in a very similar environment. So there is a genetical factor that plays a role as well.

And "acquired" can be in many more ways than just education or the way we are brought up. Lets not forget for example current and past environmental factors that played a role in our development, or in our actual attitude at the moment. Food (coffee, sugar junk food ... influences your attitude and behaviour... when you grow up with a bad diet you develop "differently"), pollution and so on ....

Attitudes are mostly acquired. Some are inherited , because, the early life of most people is with the family members in which there are some ingrained attitudes that one comes in contact with and this partially affects a lot of attitudes of a person.

Attitudes are acquired. A baby is born with a blank slate, but parents, siblings, environment can have a big impact in a hurry.

Youngsters with attitudes usually are imitated parental/sibling behavior.

Probably both. If you said that you get your attitudes from your parents but you maintained that attitudes are inheritied, you'd be in a pickle. Undoubtedly you pick things up from your environment but also some people are congenitally morose or cheerful or sanguine. So it's a mix.
