No plans but I've "built" a few in my time, as my children were young.
Simple could be just determining measurements, "building" a box, of what materials you wish; IE: 1/2 inch plywood. For the last two that was my "plan". I used 1 x 1 pine for all the frame/support structure; attached the top piece, completely enclosing the rectangular CUBE. Then once the BOX was crafted, I cut the TOP OFF at approx. two inches on my table saw, installed hinges, stained and decorated, and Voila.

Decide how big you want the box, which will depend waht you want to put in it and where it is going to go. Use 18 mm Mdf board and butt joint corners reinforced with 25mm square section PAR timber on the inside. Use glue and screws Fit the base inside the sides for a stronger job, fill and paint (non-toxic paint). Fit lid with hinges and a stay (a friction one may save trapped infant fingers) or omit if this is too much of a risk, and if you need to move it around put it on castors.
