Religion does not necassarily make a President effective or even ineffective. A lot of people tend to believe that a Christian President would be biased towards a lot of issues. But, can anybody reading this say that you're not bias when it comes to certain issues?

When you vote in the upcoming elections, have a look at the staff behind the President and ask yourself if you can trust them. Because a President maybe the one that makes the decisions - but he/she has to make it on the basis of the opinions his/her staff give. If the President's staff have stupid opinions, the President will make a stupid decision.

An effective President needs to be an excellent leader with outstanding morals and ethics. An effective President needs to be un-biased and focus not only on facts and research, but on the opinion and needs of the public that appointed him to that position. He/she cannot make decisions based only on his/her opinion. More importantly, an effective President needs staff that also have outstanding morals and ethics.

Take time to think carefully about who you want for a leader. It's not a decision to take lightly. Your government has a direct effect on your life.

Voting is your chance to participate in democracy at its very best. Don't take that chance for granted because there are still millions of people worldwide that will never get this chance.

Good luck America.

Anybody can be a good President if he really wanted to serve the country well even when he is a non-practicing Christian.

Yes. A non-practicing Christian would be a great President. Your values come from a good home and life experience, not only from a church.

I'm not sure that I understand your meaning regarding a non-practicing Christian (one is either a Christian or they aren't) but to answer your question I would say yes.

A non-practicing ANYTHING would be better than a president, like our current one, whose major decisions are influenced more by warped religious ideas than by what's in the best interest of the nation.

Considering how this current so-called Christian has screwed things up, I think a non-religious person would be a breath of fresh air. At least he wouldn't be pulling stuff out of his butt and saying that he prayed on it and this is what god said to do.

Why does she or he have to be a Christian practicing or otherwise? Perhaps we all need to take a look at our biases.

Honestly, there is too much emphasis on religion and politics. Politics would probably be better if there were atheist or agnostics involved than religious people. At least decisions would not be based on religious beliefs, but sound judgement.

Seperation of church and state right? Let's just hope the individual had some moral fiber!
