When things hurt you, it creates lots of feelings and emotions that you dont know what to do with. Sometimes you can't pinpoint exactly why you're hurt, just that you are.
After it has happened and now that you have experienced it, 5 years on it is easier for you to understand 'why' and what to do with the your feelings & emotions, you have now learnt to control them. Or it may be easier for you to disregard it rather than to deal with it cos you hurt so much from the last time.
You have become stronger as a person, carry on being strong =)

A very interesting question. I'm the same way. Perhaps you've become more confident in who you are and how you feel, so people are less likely to be able to hurt you as easily. Maybe before, when people insulted you, you may have believed they were right, but now, more experience has tought you that you know better.
You probably know more about life and the world than you did five years ago. Maybe this has made you realise that your life is less significant in the grand scheme of things. You've taken on various challenges and succeeded. So you're more confident about being able to do so again.
In any case, this has got to be a good thing!

Psychologically? You have matured and can see sense and logic in other peoples statements.
Physically, we learn what to expect and how much pain we should receive, making it less of a shock, however, Im still a big baby when it comes to vaccinations!

I doubt that those things don't hurt, merely that you have become more adept at dealing with them.
