Ok - I admit this is a bit of a touchy subject to me since I had my son at age 16.
Correct me if i am wrong but is the legal age of consent 16??
In no way am I saying it is a good idea but come on people it is legal - our government (and others) send out the message that 16 yr olds are old enough to handle that type of situation by allowing consentual sex at 16.
Also - just because someone has a child at a young age does not mean they are "a tart", neither it does not mean that they will be a bad mother - my son is now a well behaved, well balanced, happy 12 yr old - doing well in school etc and I did that alone as the bastard that helped to get me in that situation didnt want to face up to the responsibility. I see plenty of older mothers shouting and swearing at their little kids, letting them play in the road etc, no one can tell me that they are better mothers just because they were in their 20s 30s or even 40s when they had their kids!!!!

Ummm so. all i have to say is that there are loads of 16 year olds out there who get pregnant. Even younger girls then that get pregnant. So why is it such a big deal about Jamie lynn getting pregnant, is it because she is famous???
And people saying it runs in the family??? What do you mean Britney was married and 20 something when she first got pregnant! > britney just went nutty!

Its only news because of who her sister is - there are plenty of other 16 year olds that are pregnant, but they are lucky in that they will not be villified by the press and the public at large.
It is very hard to have and keep a baby at such a young age, hopefully because of the publicity there will be plenty of support for her and I hope they will both be very happy.

I am really shocked at those who are referring to her as a tart and the like. She is supposedly in a stable relationship with the baby's father - it's not as if she is going with half the school! Would she have been perceived as less of a tart if she had had an abortion, I wonder?
Although it isn't an ideal situation, I wish her good luck with it.

Anything that comes form the B Spears camp is to be treated with contempt. WASTE OF TIME.
I bet that in the end she will go for an abortion -- which really means she was not pregnant in the first place and this was all made up to sell papers.

big deal she is having a baby
she is at a legal age and has enough money and a long term boyfriend
we should remember romeo and juliette were very young yet we regard this as a love story yet villify other teenagers for doing exactly the same
young girls have been having babies since the year dot , nothing but our attitudes have changed
good luck to her i wish her and her partner and baby all the best

I'm sure Mommy Lynn Spears (who has nothing better to do with her own life but follow Jamie around) will be teh full time guardian of the child. Maybe she'll do a better raising a kid this time around. Afterall, I don't think they want another Brittney in their realm.

lets put the fact that she is a celebrity and the fact that she is Britney's little sister aside. and see it for what it is a mistake and one she'll have to deal with for the rest of her life. because I am absolutely sure that she knows she has disappointed her mother, her fans and most importantly herself. Can you remember how hard it was being 16. I myself feel kind of proud of her because she has taken responsibility for her mistake in having underage sex. What we as a society need to do is let her be during this delicate time and not compare her to her sister who couldn't hand motherhood

Surely there are thousands of other sixteen year olds in the same rocky little boat.
Don't pick on this little one just because she's Britney's sister.
C'mon people, the utter lack of empathy & sympathy around here is sad.
Yup, she did wrong. Are your lives so perfect?

Well as my mother told her workmates 35 years ago for gossipping about a 16 year old being pregnant, she's not the first and won't be the last.
