Well, I received a secondhand vacuum cleaner from my husband for my birthday once.
He bought it at a car boot sale too!
For another birthday, he bought me a new bed but I had to pay something towards it because he said that it was too expensive! It only cost just over $200!
That bed was for both of us to sleep on by the way!
Need I say more?
P.S. In case you were wondering, that tight @ss is now my ex-husband! He was British too!

I dont have a bf/husband but if i did and they bought me an iron or a vac id be fuming. My friend said she wanted a dishwasher so her husband bought her one for christmas, she was so p*ssed off that she kicked him out on boxing day and divorced him in the new year!

Ohhh yes. Angry and disappointed and concerned that he would continue to give crappy gifts if I didn't set him straight right away!
The only exception to this is if I'd explicitly told him I wanted it for Christmas... But that isn't likely to ever happen! Christmas is for FUN gifts!
