It's a hardware and/or fan problem....You can replace both of them and maybe try for better quality....Have you talked to a tech where you bought the computer? Shouldn't be that loud so get your money back!!

Describe the sound. Does it sound like a jet plane taking off? Or a really loud clock? Or like a whining dragging sound?

The newer (higher-end) systems have large, loud fans that sometimes sound like an airplane taking off. This is common, the system is running hot and needs to cool down. Although if the room is for the most part cool, and the computer hasn't been on for long and isn't during anything intensive. it may be a sign of a system with poor ventilation.

If you hear the sound of a "clock" ticking really loud whenever you access data, you might have a bad hard drive. However a clicking hard drive will usually stop working very soon after the sound starts. Meaning it wouldn't be able to start up Windows.

If it sounds like a whining dragging sound, you might have a defective case fan or power supply fan.

are you sure it's not from one of the fans? if it's the hard drive, it will sound like there's sand inside and that means it's going to be dead in 1-4 weeks normally. it will sound like grinding .. it's really unmistakable. normally a hard drive makes a very quiet 'whiirrrrr' and some clicks you shouldn't hear outside the tower case. if it's just a loud constant whine it's your power supply fan, the cpu fan, or one of the auxilliary fans if you have any. assuming your pc doesn't have a 'warranty void if ..' sticker preventing you from opening the case, pull the side off and try to localize the sound. if it's just a fan they can send you a new one. if it's really the hd and the pc is new, send it back.

depends on what sort of sound you're hearing .... if it was a low end PC you may have got one with cheaper parts and therefore the components will make a little noise .... without hearing or getting a better description of the noise it's imposible to say what it may be

it's probably the auxiliary fan. try bumping the cpu (but not too hard.)

it's working for me. :D
