This is about one of the hardest questions anyone could ask me...I love ALL his songs...I'm a huge fan! There's no way I could pick just one as a favorite....I LOVE both the ones you mentioned. If you think about it, Ray's and Johnny's lives were very similar. Crazy Old Soldier was the perfect song for them to sing together. I also love 'The General Lee'.

I think the mark of a great song is one that changes you: you're a different person at the song's conclusion.
With that in mind, my favorite Cash song, without question, is "The Ballad of Ira Hayes," a 1963 hit about one of the Marines pictured in the famous "flag-raising" on Iwo Jima (and in the Marine Corps Memorial sculpture in Washington, DC). It's heart-breaking, much the way that John Prine's "Sam Stone" is, but it's more heartbreaking because it's a true story.

"I walk The Line" and "Ring of Fire"
Honrable mention'"Folsom Prison Blues",Don't Take your Guns to Town"'"Teenage Queen","A Boy Named Sue"
But that's just my thoughts.

Man in Black does it for me although the list is endless. Johnny Cash spoke to everyone at one time or another, through his music.
