I'd have to say the Red Sox have the most crazy avid following (best portrayed in the movie Fever Pitch). However, depending on your definition of "best" fan base, I'd also have to put St. Louis Cardinals fans on the top of the list. They are some of the most passionate fans, and are arguably the most informed fan base in baseball. Very intelligent baseball fans. I just want to mention that the Cardinals are in the same division as my Milwaukee Brewers. The only team I like less than the Cardinals is the Cubs. However, I have to recognize the Cardinal fan base for being as great as they are.

All these people claiming that the Yankees have the snobbiest fans: have you ever been to a Yankee game? Are you just going by the people that you see on TV sitting right behind homeplate? Yankee stadium had over 50 thousand seats. They are just a small percentage of the people at the game. Just because everyone on the team is filthy rich does not mean that so are the fans.
Just had to let that be known. But I dont really know the answer to the question.

If by working class you mean "blue collar" workers - Pittsburgh, Philly, Cleveland, for certain. Maybe Baltimore and Chicago Cubs
"Upper Class" meaning more White Collar workers -
NY (both teams), Boston, LA, Anaheim, Oakland.

Working Class is the Indians. Cleveland is an industrial town and most of the money comes from manufacturing, they are down home honest working people and expect that kind of product.
Upper Class: LA Dodgers, they get the creme d'la creme to come to the games by the fifth inning (and leave by the 7th).

Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox (Cubs? Are your crazy? Yuppie north side over the south? Give me a break!!), Texas Rangers (special class of working class, admittedly), California Angels (look in the stands, anyway), Philadelphia Phillies, and Cleveland Indians.

Working class= Pittsburgh Pirates (what fan base they do have anyway). Pittsburgh is totally a working class, blue collar town with very cool, down to Earth people. Upper-class= New York Yankess, simply because you've gotta be upper class to afford season tickets to Yankee Stadium. While they are the most upper class, strangely (or maybe not) they are by far the most obnoxious.

i would assume the most working class fans of a team, are in one of the more working class cities, that would pittsburgh and the white sox, im sure, to get an appropriate answer one would need to do a lot of socio-economic research, but the south side of chicago and pittsburgh and detroit are known for their working class majorities
upper class, i would assume probably the yanks

I'd say the most working-class fan base would have to be the Chicago Cubs.
The most upper-class and least diverse would be the Boston Red Sox. Did you ever notice that especially during playoff time?
