I have Norton Security on my computer. When I try to run live update, I receive the message given above, followed by :-NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction
CS;06b6IP:01c1 OP:0f 00 00 00 00. Have followed instructions given when installation failed (error codes LU1812 and LU 1806) ,but still having the same problem. I am advised to try again at a later date and have done so many times without success.

Do your self a favor and you'll sleep better at night . Rid your computer of Norton's intrusive bloated trash. It bogs down a computer (look at the resources it hogs in msconfig) it phones home and lets them essentially record what your doing (hence their live update) NAV uses a BHO program called NavShExt.dll. some BHOs are good some like nortons are not. Use this uninstaller tool http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Norton-Removal-Tool.shtml Then get your self AVG or Kaspersky both got good ratings AVG has a free version Then run your scans again Norton does not like you to uninstall their products thats why you use the uninstaller tool . Good Luck

If you have a free norton, I'd go to add/remove and get rid of. Then windows security will scream at you, till you download a freeware program such as AVG.

You should go to http://www.kaspersky.com and do an online scanning. If there are virus or torjan, download the cleaning tools and remove them. Turn-off and power-off your machine for at least 15 minute

Restart your machine and then uninstall the Norton

Then do an re-installation.

That should do.
