Would australia win the trophy?
common sense would say they would have a 1-0 win but Ricky Ponting said something on the news tonight along the lines of if it was a wash out
New Zealand would retain the trophy

By common sense or otherwise, it is clear that if the third match is washed out, then Aussies will win the chapell Hadlee trophy and only in case the match is played & won by NZ, then NZ will retain the trophy. I don't see any other logic here

If the 3rd ODI is washed out, Australia will win the series 1-0 and as such they will take the Trophy. However, if New Zeland win the 3rd ODI, the series will be 1-1 and as such New Zeland will retain the trophy.

They have said on the news that if the third match is washed out then New Zealand will remain champions because two matches that have no result basically washes out the whole series because Australia wouldnt have a chance to win any matches and the one game they have won wouldnt count. So everything is on this next match!
