I have installed a inno3d nvidia 8800gt card on my system.
Quad core 6600 cpu
2Gb Ram
500w PSU

After i installed the card the system would not boot up properly. It would power the fans on both card and computer but nothing else. I put in the old card and works perfect??

Please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like your 500W power supply has a weak +12V rail.

8800GT is a 110 watter and draws almost up to 10 amps on +12V rail. Q6600 G-zero stepping draws 95 watts on +12 rail too. Power supply should have at least 26 amps on +12V rail if single rail or at least 15 amps on +12 V2DC if dual rail.

Something like this should work all day long:

What type of power supply do you have? I believe that the 8800's need about 20 amps on the 12v rail (make sure that the Vid Card gets its own entire power cord. Vid cards don't like to share.). You will probably have to drop a c-note (100 bucks) on a new power supply. www.newegg.com . have fun.
