So you know for a fact that they all live 500 yards from the school, do you?

When I was at school some 18 or so years ago I walked too and from school every day, 1 mile each way.

I guess it depends on where you live etc but if was safe to do so I would cycle with the kids to school or if they are old enough they can cycle themselves.

Might help the overweight kids problem too!

i walk my kids to school but i live very close a friend of mine who lives much further away from the school than me and has to do two drops at different schools and these two schools are about a mile and a half apart so i cant call people that have to drive their kids to the school
i do worry that some of the parents that drive their kids to school park to close to the school and make it hard for people to cross the road safely so i would say to those people could you park a little further away and walk a bit but other wise i cant agree with you sorry

I think there should be more car sharing and school buses for kids that live to far from school, but catchment area regulations should mean that nobody lives too far away. I know it's cold, but wrap them up warm and walk them to school. Kids (and mums for that matter!) are getting too lazy these days. And it wouldn't be so bad if they weren't all such bad drivers!! Everyday I have to put up with parents who stop in the middle of the road and put their hazzard lights on whilst they let their kids out, not caring that they are holding up hundreds of people.

I drive mine to school ....... is 2 miles each way and no school bus. If you could offer an alternative, I'd gladly take it.
