The new EU health care directive will allow Britons trapped in endless queues to get into our filthy hospitals with their fatal infections to gain quick access to the excellent European facilities such as those of Germany, France and Holland. The fact that the dreadful Frank Dobson and other Labour hacks are against the idea is the best argument for its immediate implimentation. At last, we will have a reformed public service - the ultimate British oxymoron.

Agreed. Governments have never dared take on the Communist Leviathan that is the NHS, particularly Labour Governments, for fear of losing votes.

Essential structural reform has had to wait for things to get so bad in the NHS, and I mean for the thickest voter to realise it, that the Government will be emboldened to tackle reform because they will, at last, get the public support.

So yes, the time is near, and about time, but don't stop with the NHS, much of the Public Sector is over-bloated.

Quite right the NHS is a public disgrace. The deaths caused by the filth are just classed as statistics. I was appalled at the filth in one hospital in the West Country, dirty dressing under a bed for 2 days is just one example of how infection arises. Nurses and Doctors are the biggest culprits for the spread of bacteria, failing to wash their hands after visiting the toilet is classic. The sooner we can go to clean, infection free hospitals the better.

There aren't endless queues and most hospitals are NOT filthy. You seem to want to put down the hundreds of thousands of staff who work their socks off to keep you healthy.
Today I have a hospital appointment which was arranged a mere two weeks ago.
In September, my m-in-law had an MRI scan within a week of her first consultation.
Do not lie about what is going on in the NHS. The health care costs in the countries you mention are hugely more expensive year on year than ours here in the UK.
If you and your ilk were prepared to pay more in taxes, then perhaps the situation would suit you better.

Great; there will be bigger waves of foreign nationals rushing here to sponge off us.

We need to get rid of the countless illegals in the UK and get our own shop in order. Surely that will ease the burden of the NHS.

"Stalinist NHS" - that's the paradox considering the Tory reforms in the 80/90's

I find it ironic that many British doctors are emigrating to India, because of cleaner and better equipped hospitals.

This should be a wakeup call.
