Not unless the decibel* level of my screech can harm it! I guress it does because when I scream they always run away lol!!

Get a young unneutered male cat if you have a pest problem. Soon all the rats will avoid your house like the plague.
a) You'll be saving a cat from an animal shelter where it'd be put down eventually.
b) You'll not have to deal with rat issues
c) Cats make wonderful companions and pretty much take care of themselves, except for food and occasional vet visits

we had a mouse in the house
so we bought a "catch them alive" trap.
the plan was to catch, then drown.
I got home 4 hours before my husband got home, and in that 4 hours i fed the little mousey peanuts and we hung out together. Me on the couch, him in the little trap.
By the time hubby got home i loved the little mousie and wanted to keep him as a pet.
