would anyone else be annoyed if their son constantly didnt bother getting them a card etc for their birthday/mothers day etc? My son is grown up, working and married but never bothers even though i make sure him and his wife get their presents and i go to a lot of effort for them on their birthdays.
Am i being selfish to expect at least a card in the post? Also i bet his wife wouldnt give her mother nothing on her birthday?
what do you think - dont mind honest answers!!

yes i give them presents and check before hand what they want then drivbe all the way to where they live to deliver them on the day. They also constantly ask me for money for elec bill etc which i have given them lots of times. it just hurt a bit when i didnt even get a card. i feel they only contact me when they need money

I am about to write a serious answer for a change.
My parents passed away a few years ago.
Id love to be able to buy them both a Christmas present.
I miss my mum and dad so much..especially birthdays and Christmas.
Your son doesn't know how lucky he is.
If i could give your son one piece of advice..this would be it-
Look after your parents because one day you might regret it.
You sound like such a lovely lady.
Can i adopt you?? lol. No seriously..
I wish you all the best and i hope your son comes to his senses.
Love Cxx

No you are not being selfish, you are his mother and your provided for him and you still make sure that he and his wife gets cards and presents so he should at least do the same for you. I can't believe that he doesn't get you anything he is the one that is selfish, you have every right to be annoyed. Next year, don't send him anything and I bet you anything he will be on the phone to you pretty sharpish about it, then you tell him how you feel about it all

If you're still handing out presents, and they don't even bother... yes, you have the right to be annoyed that they're not even trying to hand you a card.

It sounds like it's not really about the birthday card. It's more about feeling as if he had forgotten or just doesn't care. Your son will always care about his parents. If you want something in return, give him a call on your birthday just to say hi. I'm sure he'll say happy birthday. He just doesn't feel comfterble to just start doing it now, especially if he hasn't done it in years.

That's boys for you. I've got 2 brothers and if it wasn't for me my mum wouldn't get anything on mothers day or her birthday either. It's just not important to most blokes. His wife should really remind him as i do with my husband. Drop some hints to her in future.

You are indeed great that you care so much for your son and his wife.If they fail to reciprocate, they are idiots. You may totally ignore their behavior.Stop expecting any response from them. But please continue your good work for ever.
