I have owned both, a Ferrari 348 and a CL500. The big shock with the Ferrari was a £9000 service bill, every 9000 miles, whereas the Mercedes is £1000 every 12,000 miles.

To drive they do not compare, the Mercedes is fine everywhere, the Ferrari was a nighmare in the City, noisy on the motorway and perfection on a country road

Depends what you like. Ferrari manufacture super cars and Mercedes produce premium cars and the difference in prices, except for the MacLaren SLR, is huge. I would like a Mercedes S Class for every day use and a Ferrari Enzo for weekends. If however, I had a choice I would run an Audi RS4 Avant every day and an Audi R8 on the weekend.

Mercedes for me. I'm too tall to fit in most Ferraris.

There is the (very) old line about how buying a Ferrari means that you're going to be putting an Italian mechanic's kid through college, but I believe that their reliability has improved tremendously in recent decades.

I think Ferraris are more for the very rich people. Mercedes are for the rich people

But personally, I would go with a ferrari

Ignoring cost - the Mercedes was always a car with an excellent reputation for engineering and reliability but, unfortunately, this has plummeted in the past couple of years and they appear to have some serious problems.
OK - so you have a loyalty interest in Ferrari, even so, with no vested interest, I would have to vote for Ferrari on reputation if nothing else.

A Ferrari is a hand crafted thing of beauty, a Merc is an expensive mass produced car for people who know they want a good car, but wouldn't know one if it came and bit them on the @ss!

If you want speed, pick the sports car, a Ferrari. If feeling for something more dignified, the Mercedes.

from my sight of view you can use a ferrari for extreme acceleration and fun but a mercedes dosent give that a lot but it is so cushiony and it is so comfortable to sit in and drive. a business man can use a mercedesbecause he needs rest and a racer or fun lover can use a ferrari. i say this as bots ferrari and mers are good
