Ugh, I feel your pain.
If you're really tired and pressed for time, focus on stuff that will turn REALLY nasty while you're away, or could pose a fire hazard: wash the dishes, dump the leftovers from the fridge, take out the garbage and recycling, clean out any pet cages or litter boxes, and whatever you do, don't leave a load of wet clothes in the washer. (ewww... we moved a washing machine once and forgot that there were wet quilts in it...)
Fire safety: make sure all irons, curling irons, etc. are unplugged and that all appliances (except the fridge) are turned off. Don't leave any stacks of paper, clothing, or kids' junk near any heater, air intake, water heater, or oven. Set the heat very low-- you don't want any pipes to freeze, but no point heating the place more than you have to.

GO!!!! Forget the guilt. You'll really see why in 2nd paragraph that starts out with 3 years ago...
First off, is anyone remaining at home? If they are old enough to stay at home, give them chores that must be done. If in school, it's the holiday break... 1-2 per day. No excuses. However you must be willing to enforce a penalty if the chores are not completed. Now, having said that, be reasonable. If we are talking teens, they will not keep house to your standards. Therefore, be reasonable.
3 years ago, we had a 2 day yes DAYS on an airplane in each direction heading overseas to visit family. I had a 22 room house spotless, with 3 kids at home (summer break) when we left at 2 am to get to the airport.
3 weeks later... walked back in and totally flipped out. Our house was broken into kids rooms trashed, etc. etc. etc. (neighbor kids). Now, I don't think twice about walking out & leaving a 'messy house'. I suspect that your mess involves items like laundry, stuff you changed your mind about etc. In theory (unless you live near my neighbors) it will STILL be there when you come home. At the earliest, deal with it the day after you come home in reasonable amounts. In other words, no-one else is going to magically make messes disappear (if you find one clone them!!).
You are a definite lady after my own heart. However, it's time to take YOUR TIME!! Do it and leave the guilt @ home w/ the mess. Odds are, what you consider a mess really isn't.
ENJOY, RELAX AND FORGET YOUR HOUSE!!!
Hope you have a fantastic time away

You will regret leaving a messy house when you return home and have to face it. Clean now, even if it is just a quick tidying up.

Clean!!!!! You do not want to come home to that. when you get home all you will want to do is rest. and you will feel so relieved when u walk into ur house with nothing to do. i mean, how often does that actually happen. I made an18 hour trip to ND. But the 18 back home was torture. i was so glad i could rest easy that day without thinking about having to get up and get it done. CLEAN NOW!! You'll be so glad u did.

I think Even you have a 15 hrs left you have to ckean it, just fix the basket where dirty clothes basket and get them to ready to wash when you came back, then clean things out, clear them and fix your garbage for them not to stink, what ever you can see just fix them, for you to have a worry free if you have your vacation and for you to enjoy too.
