NO!

I took the plunge and purchased one right when it came out..

It's pretty, it gets looks, makes a great conversation starter ("Is that an iPhone..?"), the touch screen is neat but..

The programs crash constantly
It runs Mac's OSX but has no Flash plug-in (bye bye Myspace page music, etc.)
The volume is low
Many iPhones have dim screens
The battery is not replaceable
Third-party devices aren't compatible (iTrip, headphones, etc.)
Updates will brick phones aka make them unusable unless they're reverted back to factory settings
- Note: A policy is signed by the buyer saying they will not "hack" the phone; however, if the phone is purchased through a third-party for use with a network other than Cingular, the buyer did not agree to the policy. Also worth noting is a law in California that states any international-capable phone MUST have the ability to be unlocked when requested.. be interesting to see what happens with that as Cingular has exclusive rights.
You CANNOT send pictures you take to another phone, it MUST be sent to email
You CANNOT record videos
You CANNOT view pictures sent to your phone, you must go to viewmymessage.com and log in with a specific username and password to view an extremely small picture.

The list goes on!

As it stands, the next version (think better, cheaper) should be out in the first quarter of 2008; however, signs point to it debuting in the summer or later.

Do yourself a favor and wait until next year, maybe Steve won't have the next one under lock and key or put more thought into functionality rather than fashionability.

i don't have one.
but i'm not sure if it's worth it.
i mean yeah it has a touch screen.
but... so what? the cost is outrageous.
the virus' they get are ridiculous.
and.. well... my cell phone is so much better than an iphone.

i mean, when they came out i was like, I WANT ONE SO BAD. but after a while. i just got turned off towards them.
besides, in the next few years they will have come out with a new and improved one, and you'll be asking this same question.

I don't see a point unless you really need all of the functions. I prefer a more simple flip phone.
