Honestly, yes. There are a lot of people who do, myself included. When you take a test you have 2 options: You can memorize or you can understand. It helps to do both, but I am doing just fine without the memorization part. You will remember what you learn for so much longer if you actually understand what is being read.

Yes, it's possible. My husband was like that when he was in school. He was amazed himself as to how he passes a subject without much effort at studying when most of his classmates are burning the midnight oil.
