Read the newspapers daily and try reading out loud. Speak in English among family and friends so you'll gain fluency. Read the works of the literary masters like Shakespeare, Hemingway, Tolstoy, etc. Keep a journal and write your entries in English. Try thinking in English (weird but it does help).
Good luck.

Couple of books you need to read in order to succeed with English composition- Strunk & White's classic "Elements of Style" and "The Gregg Reference Manual."

The former is brief and succinct. The latter is complete with guides on things that seldom arise but are inevitable. I use the punctuation section a lot.

And one last thing- treat yourself better. Just because this isn't for a class, that doesn't justify misspelling and lower case "I" for the first person pronoun. You need guidance from competent English writers, not mere majors. Good luck!

Practice makes perfect, dude. To have a good command in English or other languages, we need not only proficient in reading and writing but also in speaking.

Beside learning independently from books, cds, or websites, do attend English classes or join short courses lead by renowned institution such Cambridge or Oxford.

Put extra efforts and never ever give up. Don't be afraid or too shy to ask. There's no harm to ask more and more rather than you lead mistakes continously.

First thing is to learn that certain words, such as "I" and "English" are capitalized, as are all words at the beginning of a sentence.

Grammar is important. Composition is important. Find your weakest area and begin from there.
