Either. Sincere compliments are few and far between. Most compliments are made because someone wants to break the ice or they feel like they have to compliment someone on something.

Both. On something I chose b/c it would make me feel good about choosing it. On something I was born w/ b/c I know that I can't change it, but if others like it, it's not a big deal.

Something I have chosen. It would make the compliment sweeter. I am naturally pretty, however I truly love the compliments I get on my intelligence. I chose to be something other than a pretty face and I am glad I did.

Something I was born with. Cause something you chose? Boring, anyone can get it. Something u were born with? THAT'S unique! NOBODY else in the world has what I am born with!!

I chose, like making a wise life decision. It's easy to have something and be born with it.

It's always good to be getting compliments.

But even better to be complimented with something I choose.
It shows that I have at least some talent.

I'd rather be complimented on something I worked damn hard to get. Complimented on something I was born with...how fickle would that be? Cheap compliments are the drawcard of the brown-noser.
